A two years old girl died after a piece of firewood exploded during cooking at Gurudaspur upazila in Natore district.
The incident occurred around 8:00 AM on Tuesday at Pipla village under Khubjipur union of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Madina Khatun daughter of Abdus Samad, a resident of the same village.
According to locals, Madina’s mother was cooking in the morning and the child was sitting beside her in the kitchen.
Suddenly, a loud explosion occurred inside the cooking stove as a piece of firewood burst. A flaming fragment from the explosion struck Madina’s chest, leaving her severely burned.
Later, family members immediately attempted to rush the child to Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex but she succumbed to her injuries on the way.
Regarding the incident, Gurudaspur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asmaul Haque said that no complaint has been received from the family yet but we are investigating the issue.
