A 10-year old boy drowned while bathing in a pond in Narayanganj’s Fatullah upazila on Monday.

The incident took place at Masdair area next to Adrasha School in the upazila on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Omar Faruque, son of Raihan, a resident of Dewbhog Panir Tank area in the district.

According to locals, Faruque along with his friends went to bathe in a pond. He, at one stage, drowned while bathing with them.

Later, his friends informed of the matter to his family members.

Confirming the matter, Fatullah Police Station officer-in-charge Shariful Islam said that locals rescued his body from the pond.

Legal process was underway in this connection, the OC added.
