Upazila administration in Chowhali of Sirajganj district foiled the effort of a child marriage.

Sources said that, parents of a class-VII student (girl) arranged marriage of their teenage girl along with a trader aged around 22 in Pukhoria village under Khaspukuria union of Chowhali upazila in the district.

On information, a team of police from Chowhali thana and officials of the Department of Women Affairs conducted drive at the house of the girl on Friday after being directed by UNO Mahbub Hasan and foiled the marriage effort by discussing with the both parties.
