Five individuals, including three children, sustained burn wounds from sky lanterns and firecrackers in the capital while celebrating new year on December 31.
Injured –Farhan, 8, Sifan Mallik, 12, Tafsir, 3, Sumat, 20; and Sentu, 45–were taken to the emergency department of National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Tuesday night.
Farhan was admitted with 15 per cent of burns, Sifan and Sumat with 1 per cent, and Sentu with 2 per cent of burns from different parts of Dhaka, said the hospital resident docotr Shawon Bin Rahman.
“Except Farhan, the rest four left the hospital. But Farhan’s condition is critical,” he added.
