In line with the world over the Palestine-Israel issue, the general public has called for a boycott of the soft drink brand Coca-Cola in Bangladesh as well. Recently, there has been a storm of discussion and criticism on the net world about an advertisement of this soft drink in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the news of the Coca-Cola boycott has come under fire on social media, including soft drink brand Coca-Cola and the artists who acted in the advertisement. Many have threatened a Coca-Cola boycott as well as a boycott of the actors.
Due to this, Coca-Cola has removed the controversial advertisement video from its YouTube channel amid controversy. A search on their YouTube channel on Tuesday (June 11) afternoon showed that the advertisement video was not on the channel.
However, Coca-Cola authorities have not made any official statement regarding the removal of the video. Actor and producer Sharaf Ahmed Jibon, Shimul Sharma, Abdullah Al Sentu, and others were the models in this advertisement.
Noted that Sharaf Ahmed Jibon and Shimul Sharma opened up about working in advertisements after the general public threatened to boycott the actors.
“I am known to everyone as a director and actor. I have been involved in direction and acting for the past two decades. In my personal life, I have always stood against any aggression against human rights and respected your feelings and opinions,” said Sharaf Ahmed Jibon.
Meanwhile, Shimul Sharma said, “I have just started the journey of my life, please forgive my mistakes in this journey and wish me well to become a conscientious artist in the future. Thank you all.”
