Allegation of massive bribery, corruption and irregularities in teacher recruitment has been intensified against Shahidul Islam, the founder of Doiboggogati SK Technical School and BM College in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj district.

Meanwhile, a written complaint has been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) seeking proper investigation and exemplary punishment.

Sources said, Shahidul Islam, a teacher of Doiboggogati High School in Raiganj upazila of the district has been established various educational institutions including Doiboggogati SK Technical School and BM College in the same location.

Then, he misappropriated huge amount of money in the name of teachers and employees recruitments. He realized Tk 15 lakh to Tk 25 lakh from each candidate as donation in the first phase after holding fake recruitment examinations and providing fake appointment letters.

Thus, he misappropriated crores of Taka and established mountain of illegal wealth. He has built several residents at different places including Sirajganj town and his own village. He has also become owner of huge movable and immovable properties overnight by amassing money in illegal way.

He also got MPO facility for SK Technical School and BM College in the last phase of MPO enlistment by submitting fake teacher lists and other relevant papers to the concerned authorities.

Locals said, Shahidul has made the education as a family business. Though, he is a teacher of high school section, he made his wife as a head teacher of the primary section in the same school. He established Daiboggogati DK Technical School and BM College without any building or installation. Showing the previous school buildings as BM College building, he took admission of a good number of students for the Technical and BM college branch. Thus, he has swindled with the students, local guardians and the authorities concerned of the government.

He has technically made his son in law Jahangir Alam as principal of the SK Technical School and BM College violating the rules and regulations. He has also recruited his son and daughter to the educational institutions abusing his power. Though, there is needed at least eight years experience for being a principal, Jahangir got appointment on the post without obtaining the service period after producing several fake papers.

Shahidul abusing his power as the founder of the college, he has appointed his son in law Jahangir Alam through fake recruitment board and recruitment test by washing the public eyes. Not only that, being influential in the area, he has taken bribe at Tk 15 lakh to Tk 25 lakh from each by providing fake appointment letter to several candidates in different subjects including Bengali, English, business management and economics.

In fact, he realized several crores of Taka from over half hundred applicants after forming fake recruitment board and arranging fake recruitment examinations without any approval of the concerned authorities.

Although, there is a rule of appointment through NTRC, Shahidul makes these appointments with backdate and takes crores of Taka from the various applicants promising to provide jobs. He had been carried such as illicit deeds after managing former Parliament Members.

According to the sources, the government has recently provided MPO to 2770 educational institutions. Doiboggogati SK Technical and BM College is one of them.

After getting the MPO, Shahidul demanded big sum of bribe from the previously recruited lecturers and employees, who earlier paid Tk 15 lakh to Tk 25 lakh. Now, they are being forced for paying Tk 35 lakh to Tk 40 lakh. Those, who are being failure to pay the demanded money, they have been driven up from the college. And newly persons, who are able to pay his demanded amount, are being reappointed by producing new and fake papers.

To cheat the people, Shahidul uses the name and papers of the Doiboggogati SK Technical High School and BM College.

Shahin Alam, a victim said, “Shahidul received Tk 60,000 from me after signing on a non-judicial stamp of Tk 150 assuring to give job. Now, he is declining the matter of money receiving.”

Babul Akhtar, another victim said, “Shahidul took Tk 12 lakh from him assuring to give job. But now, he has declined to give job, even he has refused to payback the money.”

Locals said, one Rezaul Karim, resident of Sherpur upazila in Bogura district is his close associate to carry all misdeeds including carrying lobbing to Education Ministry and other relevant departments.

On September 26, a-three member team of Technical and Madrasha Education Division under Education Ministry led by the then Joint Secretary (now also Addl Secy) SM Mahabubur Rahman visited the spot and conducted an investigation. But, the victims have lost their confident on the investigation team due to the team members’ mysterious role.

The victims apprehended that, the investigation team has already been managed by the Shahidul in exchange of big sum of money. This is why, they urged the high-ups to form a new investigation team for carrying reinvestigation in this regard. There is a complained that, the investigation team ignored the victims, even the complainant and misbehaved with them being biased.

Locals urged the authorities concerned of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to conduct a fair investigation in this regard and take stern action against the fraud.
