A Correspondent, Sonatola (Bogura):
The 10 km road from Velurpara to Charpara on the Sonatala-Naruamala road in Bogura has become completely impassable. Due to this, nearly hundreds of pedestrians and vehicle drivers of Gabtali and Bogura have to suffer every day.
On the spot, from Velurpara of the upazila to Charpara Van Stand, it can be seen that water has accumulated in big holes on the road. It would seem that it is not a road, but a “sinkhole”. Some parts are very muddy.
It is learned that although the capacity of this road is 10-15 tons, 40-50 illegal sand-carrying drum trucks weighing 40 tons travel through this road every night. And that’s why this road is in such a bad condition.
There are two high schools along with a technical college on both sides of the road. The condition is worse in front of the college and school.
20 to 25 students going for the HSC exam said that the road in front of their exam center is in bad condition. There is always water. They have to go for the exam by crossing the muddy road. Many times their clothes also got ruined on this muddy road.
“As you can see – is this a road for proper movement? This has been the case for a long time. When it rains, the water accumulates. It has become completely impassable. However, the concerned department does not take any action in this regard,” said a passerby named Mokhlesur Rahman.
