A Dhaka court on Thursday ordered the seizure of 99.93 bighas of land, three flats, and five houses of former major general Ziaul Ahsan in response to an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) plea filed in this regard.
The court also ordered concerned authorities to freeze Ziaul Ahsan’s nine bank accounts holding nearly Tk1.3 crore in deposits.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Ghalib’s court issued the order after ACC claimed Ziaul was planning to sell the immovable assets and transfer bank deposits to disrupt ongoing investigation.
ACC Deputy Director Rezaul Karim filed the application for the seizure order.
The flats and houses ordered to be seized include 1,460- square-feet and 2,110-square-feet flats in Mirpur DOHS and a 2,600-square-feet flat in Uttara.
The list of seizures also includes an 8-story house built on property of Kotwali Police Station in Barisal, a garden house, a house with a pond, a 1,270 sq ft one-story house on the land of Barisal district office, and an 8-story building in Rupganj, Narayanganj.
