People from all walks of life including students, teachers, physicians, socio-cultural and political personalities on Tuesday morning organized a cultural march in the town demanding resuming operation of Sirajganj Express train.
The program was started from in front of Shaheed M Monsur Ali Auditorium under the banner of cultural activists and civil society of Sirajganj and ended at Baza’ar station area after marching several important roads in the town.
During the programme, Saidur Rahman Bachchu, General Secretary of BNP’s Sirajganj District Unit said, “The movement of Sirajganj Express train was suspended on August 4 centering the ‘Students-People Movement’. But, the train movement has not yet been resumed even after fall of the dictator Awami League government on August 5. As a result, commuters including businessmen and service holders in Sirajganj have been facing immense sufferings over their movements due to lack of train services.”
“We demand resume of Sirajganj Express train’s operation by the next seven days. Otherwise, movement of all trains between Dhaka and 16 districts in the northern region throughout Sirajganj will be barred.”
Joint Secretary of Sirajganj District BNP Harun-or-Rashid Khan Hasan, Assistant-Office Secretary Sheikh Enamul Haque, General Secretary of town BNP Munshi Jahed Alam, Abdullah Al Mamun Rana, Abdul Halim Tutul and Abu Hasan Mandal among others spoke on the occasion.
