The current ruling authority is not for the people and businessmen of the country, said BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.

He said, “The current ruling authority has held the administration and economy hostage to keep its power. Everyone must unite against this misrule.”

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a view-sharing meeting titled ‘Rangpur Division’s Political Commitment to Economic Restoration and Development’ organized at the hall of Rangpur Chamber Building on Thursday (July 31) afternoon.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, “Bangladesh has become economically stagnant due to the unelected government. Investors’ confidence is decreasing, and the pace of the economy has come to a standstill. To end this, a fair and acceptable election is essential.”

Stating that ‘new expectations’ have been created after the fall of the dictator, he said, “After the fall of the dictator Hasina, there has been a big change in the minds of the people. Now people no longer accept the bunch of promises. The people want implementation, participation, and results. BNP is taking that reality into consideration and planning for the future so that the economy and politics become mutually supportive.”

The BNP leader also said, “In the future, no particular group will be able to control the country’s economy.”

“We will create opportunities so that every citizen can participate in economic activities. It is possible to create employment for millions of youth in the northern region around the information technology sector—this is BNP’s priority,” he affirmed.

The meeting was addressed by BNP’s central divisional organizing secretary Principal Asadul Habib Dulu, Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Emdadul Hossain, Rangpur District BNP convener Saiful Islam, member secretary Anisur Rahman Laku, chamber leaders of eight districts of the division and district-upazila BNP leaders. Leaders of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce were also present.
