Police in a raid arrested an active member of a dacoit gang from Dariapur Uttarpara village in Shahzadpur municipality of Sirajganj district on Wednesday morning.

The arrested was identified as Mamun Pramanik, 28, son of Parbat Pramanik of Lahirimohonpur village in Ullapara upazila of the district. He is also accused for several cases including theft and dacoity.

Acting on a tip off, a team of Shahzadpur thana police conducted a raid at the house of Babul Shaikh in Dariapur village and arrested him along with a shooter gun, said Sabuj Rana, Officer-in-Charge of Shahzadpur police station.

A case was also lodged with the Shahzadpur police station in this connection.
