TDS Desk:
The government has appointed all divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, and UNOs as presidents of the governing or managing committees for all schools, madrasas and colleges across the country.
At the same time, the government has also abolished all governing or managing committees of such educational institutions across the country, the Ministry of Education made the announcement in a notice on Tuesday.
From now on, the deputy commissioners or their representatives will serve as presidents of district-level educational institutions, while UNOs or their representatives will hold the position for upazila-level educational institutions, read the government note.
The government officials will perform their duties until further orders in this regard, according to the notice.
It may be pointed out that with some exceptions, the presidents of the governing or managing committees of such educational institutions have long been appointed based on political considerations and local influence.
However, the committees have not significantly contributed to the effective operation of the institutions. But they have been involved in corruption, like the recruitment trade of third and fourth classes staff.
