Speakers at a meeting of the National Citizens Party (NCP) in Habiganj

Habiganj Correspondent : The leaders of the National Citizens Party (NCP) Habiganj District Committee said – Harunur Rashid Chowdhury, the editor and publisher of the Daily Habiganjer Mukh, has committed an unpardonable crime by publishing a statement by Advocate Md. Abu Zahir, a former MP of the previous Awami fascist government. By publishing this statement, he has shown contempt for the July Movement. The publication of this statement has created intense anger and hatred among the people of Habiganj. Therefore, the newspaper must be closed immediately and the editor of the newspaper, Harunur Rashid Chowdhury, must be arrested immediately and severely punished. In addition, those involved in publishing this statement must also be brought under the law.

The leaders made these remarks at an emergency meeting at the Habiganj district branch office of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) on Monday afternoon, December 15. The meeting, chaired by NCP district committee convener Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, called on the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police to take action in this regard within the next 24 hours. A warning was issued that a strict movement would be launched if the situation did not improve.

The meeting was conducted by the organization’s member secretary Mahbubul Bari Chowdhury Mubin. Among others, the meeting was addressed by joint convener Farhad Ahmed Ashiq, Abdul Basit Tarafdar Mithu, AKM Nasim, Mir Dulal, Iftekhar Ahad Naeem, Al-Amin Hossain Chowdhury, former GS Advocate Nazrul Aziz Junaid, Syed Abu Sadat Kajal, Humayun Kabir, Nurnabi Bhuiyan Emon, Naeem Azad Talukder, Badrul Alam Sardar, Ziaul Haque Mishu Jitu Mia, Salauddin Chowdhury Sayeed, among others.

After the meeting, the NCP leaders met separately with the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Habiganj. During the meeting, the leaders said – Harunur Rashid Chowdhury, editor and publisher of the daily Habiganjer Mukh, has shown audacity by publishing the statement of Habiganj District Awami League President and former MP Advocate Abu Zahir. He and his associates must be arrested immediately. The publication of the newspaper must be stopped. Otherwise, they warned that the angry public will demolish the newspaper office.
