Dengue: 3 deaths logged in a day, 477 hospitalized

Staff Correspondent:Three people have died, in the last 24 hours in the country, due to dengue fever. At this time, 477 new dengue patients were hospitalized in various hospitals in the country.

With this, the death toll by dengue has reached to 240 and the overall caseload has stood at 2,082.

This information was obtained in a regular press release on dengue by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) yesterday.

According to the report, among the new 477 dengue patients, 1,175 are hospitalized in 53 government and private hospitals in Dhaka and the remaining 907 patients are hospitalized in hospitals outside Dhaka.

From January 1 to November 23 this year, a total of 54,405 people were hospitalized with dengue fever, among these, 52,083 dengue patients were discharged from the hospital after recovery.

28 thousand 429 patients were admitted to the hospital due to dengue. At the same time, 28 thousand 265 people returned home after recovery.

On November 3, Bangladesh logged nine dengue deaths, the highest in a single day, this year.

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne illness that occurs in tropical and subtropical areas of the world. The outbreak of the disease is usually seasonal, peaking during and after the rainy seasons.

The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies dengue as one of the top 10 threats to public health.
