Three more deaths were reported from dengue in the 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 101 in Bangladesh this year.
During this period, 448 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, raising the number of confirmed cases to 24,143 this year.
Almost 58.4% of the total deceased this year are male, while 41.6% are female patients, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) reported most deaths across the country with 45 fatalities. Barishal division, (excluding city corporation areas) came second with 18 fatalities, and Chattogram division (excluding city corporation areas) came third with 17 fatalities.
Dhaka North City Corporation saw 11 deaths since the beginning of the year, Rajshahi division (excluding city corporation areas) four and Khulna division (excluding city corporation areas) four.
In the 24 hours till 8am Sunday, 404 patients recovered from their ailments, taking the total number of recoveries to 22,708, so far this year.
According to the DGHS, new cases were reported as follows: 95 in Barishal division (excluding city corporation areas), 81 in Chattogram division (excluding city corporation areas), 84 in Dhaka division (excluding city corporation areas), 48 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 34 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 57 in Khulna division (excluding city corporation areas), 34 in Rajshahi division, 8 in Mymensingh division, 7 in Rangpur division (excluding city corporation areas) and 2 in Sylhet division (excluding city corporation areas).
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.
