Dhaka is waiting for Delhi’s response on the proposed bilateral meeting between Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok.
“We have expressed our interest for the meeting. Now we are awaiting India’s response,” Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin told journalists at a briefing at the foreign ministry on Tuesday.
He said the strain that’s there in the relations between India and Bangladesh could be overcome if the bilateral meeting is held between Yunus and Modi.
Bangladesh earlier had sent a letter to India for a meeting between the two leaders on the bilateral visit.
Yunus will be visiting Bangkok to attend the BIMSTEC summit on April 2-4.
Earlier, Indian External Affairs S Jaishankar said India was considering the meeting between Yunus and Modi.
