Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar has been removed from his post and made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE).
Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar was made OSD in a notification signed by Mocha. Rebecca Sultana, deputy secretary of the DSHE of the Ministry of Education on Wednesday (December 18).
Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar submitted his resignation on October 21 in the face of protests by students who failed in HSC. In a letter to the DSHE secretary of the Ministry of Education, he requested that he be withdrawn from the Dhaka Board and posted elsewhere.
However, the Ministry of Education did not take any immediate action at that time. Almost two months after his resignation, the Ministry of Education finally removed Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar from the Dhaka Board.
DSHE DG transferred from additional to current duty
On the same day, Professor ABM Rezaul Karim was given the current duty of Director General of DSHE. He was given this duty in a notification signed by Deputy Secretary Rebecca Sultana on Wednesday. Earlier, he was on additional duty as DSHE DG.
Professor ABM Rezaul Karim has been newly appointed on three conditions in the notification. They are – this current duty is not a promotion, he will not be able to claim promotion due to this duty, if an officer is appointed to the relevant post through regular promotion, the order of this current duty will be considered cancelled from the date of his joining.
