Prarthana Fardin Dighi has landed the coveted role of Nirupama in the upcoming film adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s iconic short story “Dena Paona”. Directed by Sadek Siddiqui and backed by a government grant, the film promises to bring a fresh perspective to Tagore’s timeless narrative.
Dighi, a rising star in the industry, is eager to take on the challenge of portraying a complex character in one of Tagore’s most celebrated works, marking an exciting new chapter in her career.
Expressing her excitement, Dighi shared, “When I heard the story from the director, I felt that Nirupama is a character that will give me ample opportunity to explore my acting abilities. Moreover, the fact that this film is based on a story by Rabindranath Tagore adds an extra layer of enthusiasm for me.”
I’m confident that the entire ‘Dena Paona’ team will approach the project with sincerity, ensuring that no detail is overlooked. I hope the audience will be curious enough to come to the cinema and experience the film firsthand,” the actress added.
Siddiqui, who has long been contemplating casting Dighi, revealed, “Since the project received the government grant, I’ve been in discussions with Dighi about the role of Nirupama. She felt like the perfect fit for the character. I’m excited to begin working with her, and I believe the audience will see a completely new side of her in ‘Dena Paona’.”
The screenplay for the film has been written by Miron Mohiuddin, while Sadek Siddiqui himself has adapted the script.
Dighi’s previous film, “36-24-36”, directed by Rezaur Rahman, was her last screen appearance. Two other films featuring Dighi, “Priyo Praktan” and “Jongli”, are also awaiting release.
