Dismissed and forcibly retired armed forces members from the previous government staged a sit-in at Shaheed Jahangir Gate in Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday, demanding reinstatement, judicial reform, and other changes under a three-point charter.
The protesters gathered this morning under the banner of “Sohojoddha,” a platform representing dismissed armed forces personnel.
Carrying a banner that read, “Military Reforms Ongoing, Apologies for Temporary Inconvenience,” the demonstrators stood on the opposite side of Jahangir Gate and chanted slogans, including “We Want Justice.”
The protest caused severe traffic congestion in the area, with vehicles backed up as far as Banani intersection. Commuters, including students and office-goers, suffered significant delays due to the disruption.
