Finally, the BNP government has suspended the highly corrupt and controversial Project Director (PD) of the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) Md Tabibor Rahman Talukder on charge of corruptions and irregularities.

According to the directive of the President, Tabibor Rahman was suspended through a notification signed by Md Shahidul Hasan, Secretary of the Local Government Division on April 9 (Thursday).

Tabibor was Project Director (PD) of both the ‘Rural water supply, sanitation and hygiene project for human resource development’ and rural sanitation Project.

According to the notification, Md. Tabibor Rahman Talukder, Project Director (Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Project for Human Resource Development) of the Department of Public Health Engineering, has been temporarily suspended on charges of irregularities and corruption in the project work.

The notification states that, the investigation committee formed by the Local Government Department (LGD) has found the prima facie evidences of irregularities and corruption against Md. Tabibur Rahman Talukder, Executive Engineer (EE) of the Public Health Engineering Department and Project Director of “Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene for Human Resource Development (1st Revised)” and “Rural Sanitation” project.

In view of the investigation report, a decision has been taken to file a departmental case against him on charge of misconduct and corruption under 3(b) and 3(d) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.

In accordance with Section 39(1) of the Government Services Act, 2018 and Rule 12 of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, Md. Tabibur Rahman Talukder, Executive Engineer and Project Director of the Projects titled “Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene for Human Resource Development (1st Revised)” and “Rural Sanitation” has been temporarily suspended from the service, the notification revealed.

It is to be further mentioned that, despite being born in a poor family at a remote village in Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj district, Tabibor has turned to a multibillionaire through massive corruptions and irregularities after gaining the post of Project Director (PD) in two crucial projects of the department.

From the beginning of his career, he got involved in widespread irregularities and corruption and kept earning a lot of money. He was posted in various districts of the northern region including Pabna, Bogura and Sirajganj.

He had also been served as an Executive Engineer at the Department of Public Health Engineering in Sirajganj office several times on the blessing of Awami League government. He was also leader of Bangabandhu Parishad.

After joining at Dhaka office in late 2020 and getting the PD post for the much-discussed project that covers 98 upazilas of 30 districts in eight divisions, he started to change his fate. He had established an invisible supremacy at his office by managing some top bosses and political persons.

He used to protect himself from journalists by fostering terrorists and criminals. If anyone published any news or asked him for information, he would sometimes carry out terrorist attacks and torture and harass media workers. He would also threaten them in many ways.

He currently owns a six storied luxurious resident on Sadar Hospital Road in Sirajganj Municipality. He has several expensive cars.

Many people locally know him as a woman greedy and marriage crazy man. It is difficult to say for sure how many wives he has at present.
