The Supreme Court issued a ruling giving legitimacy to the newly formed interim government headed by Dr Muhammad Yunus.

Seven judges of the Appellate Division joined the meeting virtually, this information was found in the Supreme Court administration sources on Friday.

Previously, following the resignation of the Awami League-led government, the president dissolved Parliament.

In response, the president sought the Supreme Court’s opinion through the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs on whether an interim government could be established in the absence of Parliament.

On Thursday, the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan, gave its opinion in favor of forming an interim government and issued a ruling to that effect.
