Each ministry and department will submit creative, citizen-friendly and time-bound (short, medium and long-term) action plans for reformation, which will be regularly evaluated or reviewed, said Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus Wednesday (4 September).
This decision was taken during a meeting between the chief adviser and the secretaries of all ministries.
Among the other decisions taken during the meeting were to give “marching orders” to adopt and implement reform programmes at all levels of government.
The reform programmes should be formulated after discussing with the concerned parties, said Dr Yunus.
“We have to build a new Bangladesh with honesty, devotion and accountability in our respective fields, standing on the faith and fearless spirit that the students gave us in the July-August uprising to build a humane country without discrimination,” said the chief adviser in a press release denoting the outcome of the meeting.
By cutting out corruption from the root, by facilitating services, the highest satisfaction of the people should be achieved, he added.
His directives to secretaries included ensuring optimum utilisation of public funds, ensuring fair competition in government procurement and removing obstacles to ensure transparency, accountability.
