The Election Commission may announce the date for the upcoming national election by the first week of December, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said on Wednesday.

He made the remark at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy following a meeting on election preparations. National election is likely to be held in February.

Shafiqul said the chief adviser has instructed authorities to complete some primary tasks, including the training of Ansar members, procurement of body-worn cameras, and other logistical arrangements, by November 15.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus at the state guesthouse Jamuna, discussed four major issues — posting, training, security, and monitoring disinformation on social media.
