The Election Commission (EC) is set to identify and take legal actions against groups advertising services for correcting National Identity Cards (NID) on Facebook and other social media platforms.

In a recent meeting aimed at streamlining and ensuring the proper provision of NID correction services, the Election Commission decided to address this issue.

Election Commission officials said they have information on several groups that are illegally advertising NID correction services in exchange for money through Facebook and other social media platforms.

Commission Secretary Shafiul Azim emphasized the importance of prioritizing service seekers.

He instructed officials to treat every office as a service centre and ensure that new voter registrations, NID corrections, and voter transfers are handled with utmost care for both residents in Bangladesh and expatriates.

Azim stressed that service seekers should not face harassment, and no intermediaries should exploit the system.

He urged the controlling authorities of each office to closely monitor operations, ensure accountability, and strive to deliver corruption-free services that leave recipients satisfied.
