Maximum security alert has been enforced at eight airports across the country following a letter from the Police Headquarters, said Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmud Siddique.
He made the announcement on Monday afternoon while speaking at Kurmitola in the capital.
The CAAB chairman said that airports are always under a strict security framework. But security measures have been further strengthened after receiving the letter from the Police Headquarters. He described the step as part of routine security operations.
Sources said the Police Headquarters also issued alert instructions to airport authorities. Immediately after receiving the letter, the civil aviation authority imposed a high-level security alert and directed all law enforcement units deployed at airports to take special precautionary measures.
