A court in Sirajganj on Tuesday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his younger brother centering a trifling matter.

The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default; he will have to suffer three more months in Jail.

The convict is Swapon Sheikh alias Dobar Sheikh, son of Akhter Hossain Sheikh of Soyagabinda area in Sirajganj municipality town.

District and Sessions Judge Md Ikbal Hossain hanged down the verdict, said Rafique Sarker, PP of the respective court.

According to the prosecution brief, the two siblings- Swapon Sheikh alias Dobar and Rokon Sheikh locked in a fighting centering a trifling matter on October 24, 2018. At one stage of their scuffling, Swapon stabbed on the right side chest of his younger brother Rokon with a sharp knife. After the incident, locals rescued Rokon and admitted him to Sirajganj General Hospital in a critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries at night, while undergoing treatment.

Victim’s father lodged a case with the respective police station in this connection. After completion of investigation, police submitted a charge sheet to the court on January 31, 2019 accusing Dobar.
