Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin has said that the upcoming parliamentary elections are expected to be held in the first half of February, Insha Allah (God willing).

He made the remarks during a media briefing following a meeting with election officials at the office of the Rangpur Regional Election Officer on Saturday, August 9.

“The elections will be held in the first half of February, Insha Allah,” the CEC said.

“There will be no opportunity for anyone to disrupt the voting process. Investigations will be completed before polling concludes, and this time, our law enforcement agencies will play a strong and proactive role. We are fully prepared to take all necessary steps to ensure a fair, transparent, and credible election.”

Earlier in the day, during a meeting with election officials from Rangpur division, the CEC announced that efforts are underway to bring fresh personnel into the electoral process.

“We will hire new staff, excluding those previously involved in election irregularities,” he said. “Wherever possible, individuals linked to past misconduct will be removed, and new, trustworthy personnel will be brought in.”

The CEC expressed confidence that the law and order situation would continue to improve as the election date approaches. He reaffirmed the Election Commission’s commitment to upholding the Chief Adviser’s promise of conducting free, fair, and inclusive elections.

“The EC is fully prepared to face any challenge related to security or logistics,” he added. “Our priority is to ensure public trust in the electoral process and deliver an election that the nation can accept with confidence.”
