Staff Correspondent: The retail price of rice is not decreasing in the markets of the capital. The Rice price remains the same as last week. Meanwhile, the plentiful supply of vegetables made affects the market. is increasing day by day, which affects the prices. The prices of eggplant, beans, and tomatoes have decreased by Tk 15 to Tk 20 per kg. But the fish price remains high. This was the scenario of Dhaka’s several bazaars on Thursday.
Lower middle-class and low-income people’s struggle continues as rice price is not coming down. Miniket rice is being sold at Tk 71 to Tk 75 per kg in different markets, which was the same price as last week. Bri-28 (coarse rice) was sold at Tk 58 to Tk 60 per kg, Chinigura at Tk 130, Nazirshail at Tk 68 to Tk 84, red rice at Tk 80, atop rice at Tk 44, Katari atop at Tk 78 to Tk 82 per kg.
Despite the hilsa fish being abundant in the market, the price is not decreasing. As a result, low-income people are not able to reach hilsa. After visiting several markets, the hilsa price is Tk1,800 to 1,900 per kg. Apart from this, catfish sold at Tk 500 to Tk 550 per kg, and Shol at Tk 550 to Tk 600 per kg. Tilapia was sold at Tk 180 per kg, medium-sized rohu at Tk 300, large-sized rohu at Tk 550, powdered shrimp at Tk 450, and cuttlefish at Tk 300 per kg.
Winter vegetables are in abundant supply in the market. Yesterday, black round brinjal was sold at the rate of Tk 60 to Tk 70 per kg, which was Tk 90 to Tk 100 per kg in the previous week. Tomatoes were selling at Tk 110 to Tk 120, which was Tk 140 to Tk 150 the previous week. Apart from this, Okra is sold at Tk 40 to Tk 50, beans from Tk 50 to Tk 60, radish from Tk 30 to Tk 40, and patol Tk 30 to Tk 40 per kg, which is lower than the previous week. Gourds are sold at Tk 50 to Tk 60 depending on size, white round brinjal at Tk 50 to Tk 60, and cucumber at Tk 80 to Tk 90 per kg. Apart from this, medium-sized flower heads are sold at Tk 60 and potatoes at Tk 30 to Tk 35 per kg.
Last week, broiler chickens were sold at Tk 170 to Tk 175 per kg. It was seen to be sold at the same price on Thursday. However, some shopkeepers are taking advantage of the opportunity and charging higher prices. Golden chickens were sold at the price of Tk 290 to Tk 300 and domestic chickens at Tk 480 to Tk 500 per kg in Karwan Bazar yesterday.
The price of eggs has decreased slightly. Chicken red eggs are reduced by 10 rupees per dozen. It was seen that 130 takas per dozen were sold yesterday. Apart from this, white chicken eggs are sold at Tk 125, duck eggs at Tk 220, and domestic chicken eggs at Tk 240 per dozen.
