Ethic brings ‘Hari Phatibe’ on stage after long hiatus

Theatre troupe Ethic will stage its first production “Hari Phatibe” at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital this evening after a long hiatus with new arrangement.

The 82nd show of popular playwright of the subcontinent Utpal Dutt’s play will be held at the Studio Theatre Hall of the academy.

The play has been re-directed by Mintu Sardar while Moni Kanchan is the associate director of the project.

The main theme of the drama is a thrilling expedition to uncover the ugly dark life of people on the upper class of the society.

“Hari Phatibe” features anomalies in the society through the eyes of a writer named Kalikingkar, who decides to write a book about the injustices done by the powerful and influential in the society like political leaders, rich businessmen, human rights activists and others.

He also decides to invite the perpetrators as guests to the book launch programme.

When the guests become aware that the book has been written to expose their true identities and misdeeds, they beg for forgiveness and requests Kalikingkar not to launch the book.

The probable cast of the play includes Hasan Rizvi, Bhavna Hasan, Sukorno Hasan, Monirul Haque Jhalak, Moni Kanchan, Rownak Bishak Shyamoli, Azim Uddin, Nahid, S P Khan Shaon, Rubel Khan, Abir Babu, Mintu Sardar and others.
