Denouncing the dirty culture of abusing power, Sarjis Alam, one of the key coordinators of the student-led movement, has said that the trucks carrying relief materials must pay the toll while passing through the highways or bridges, following the country’s existing rules.

“The culture of misusing power cannot be supported anymore. The trucks carrying relief materials for flood-hit people under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement must pay tolls while passing through the highways and bridges,” he said.

Claiming that financial stability is an integral part of a country’s overall constancy, the young and visionary student leader said, “We must ensure the smooth operation of the country’s revenue-generating sectors if we want to run the country efficiently.”

In a video message released on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Sarjis said that the recently ousted Awami League government indulged in misdeeds, corruption and extortion.

The party members abused their power by filing false and fabricated cases against leaders of opposing political parties, leading to their ousting after 16 years in power.

Issuing a strong warning against any form of extortion, the student leader said just take lesson from the consequences faced by the Awami League.
