Mohammad Amjad Hossain, former additional secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) and his son were arrested by joint forces in the capital’s Uttara. At this time, cash worth crores of takas including foreign currency were recovered from his house.
On Sunday (November 3) night, joint forces raided house no. 33 in Sector-11 Uttara and recovered Tk 1 crore and 9.5 lakh, several foreign currencies, 11 iPhones, and expensive watches of foreign brands. At that time, former additional secretary Amjad Hossain was arrested along with his son.
In 2020, Mohammad Amjad Hossain retired as additional secretary of the LGRD ministry. The police said that a lawsuit against him is under process.
