Ex-home minister’s son Jyoti placed on 4-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal’s son Safi Muddassir Khan Jyoti on a four-day remand in an attempted murder case filed with the Ashulia police station.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Saiful Islam passed the order on Saturday.

Earlier, investigation officer of the case Abu Taher Mia, sub-inspector of Ashulia police station, produced the accused before the court and sought a seven-day remand.

Jyoti was detained around Friday from the Uttara area of Dhaka.

On September 11, a case was filed at Ashulia police station by the victim, Md Robiul Sani, accusing an attempt on his life.

The case names 30 defendants, including Sheikh Hasina. The fourth defendant in the case is Safi Mussadder Khan Jyoti.
