A Dhaka court Wednesday placed former food minister Advocate Qamrul Islam on a four-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Khaled Hasan Saifullah in Lalbagh area during the recent anti- discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain passed the order as police produced the former minister before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand.
Police on November 18 arrested the former minister from a house in the Uttara Sector-12 area. He was placed on an eight-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of trader Abdul Wadud.
Khaled Hasan Saifullah was killed on July 18 while taking part in an anti- discrimination rally in the Lalbagh Government Residential Colony area. His father Kamrul Hasan on August 19 filed the case against 52 including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
