Ex-MP Abdul Aziz sent to Jail

A court in Sirajganj on Tuesday sent Abdul Aziz, former Parliament Member of Sirajganj-3 Constituency to Jail in a case filed over attacking on motorcades and attempting to murder.

Md. Obaidul Haque Rumi, Justice of the respective court issued the order.

Earlier on Monday night, the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 arrested Abdul Aziz from Kalabagan area in Dhaka.

Police said, he was produced before Tarash administrative court by police and the court issued order to send him to Jail.

During the period, the former MP’s lawyer submitted an appeal seeking bail.

But, the court fixed a date for hearing on the bail petition, Shewly Khatun, GRO of the court confirmed the matter.

According to the case briefing, Awami League leaders and activists attacked on the motorcade of BNP nominated candidate Abdul Mannan Talukder and his men in 2018, while they were carrying their campaigning.

Centering the issue, Asaduzzaman Asad, President of Baruhas Union BNP in Tarash upazila filed a case accusing Awami League leaders and activists including ex-MP Abdul Aziz.
