Ex-MP Masuda placed on remand in murder case

The former lawmaker and Narsingdi district Awami League (AL) leader Engineer Masuda Siddique Rosy has been placed on two-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Sirajul Bepari at Badda in Dhaka on August 5.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman on Thursday passed the order after police produced Rosy before the court and pleaded to place her on five-day remand in the case.

On Wednesday (October 3) night, former lawmaker of the reserved women’s seat Masuda Siddique Rosy was arrested from her Khilkhet home.

According to the case documents, Sirajul Bepari participated in mass movement August 5. Awami League activities started firing on them when the procession came in front of the BRAC University campus.

Three bullets hit Sirajul, leaving him dead on the spot.

Hasibul Hasan Lavlu, cousin of the victim, filed the case on September 1 against 114 accused, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
