Police in raid on Wednesday arrested Touhidul Islam Firoz, former Chairman of Panchakroshi Union Parishad in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district in a case filed in connection with attacking and killing students during the anti-discrimination students movement.

He was detained from his house in Betkandi of the Panchakroshi Union in the upazila.

The arrested Touhidul was also President of Panchakroshi Union Awami League. He was elected as the chairman of the Union Parishad for two terms.

Ullapara Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rakibul Hasan said that, he is an accused of a case filed for killing Jahangir Hossain during the anti-discrimination students movement. He went hiding after the incident. Based on secret information, police arrested him from his home after returning.
