The expatriate Bangladeshis sent around $224.60 crore (about Tk 27,401 crore) in remittances in the first 24 days of May.
The country received about $9.35 crore on average every day, and if the flow continues, the inward remittances may hit new record this month.
Of the $224.60 crore, $137.16 crore came through private banks, while $66.53 crore came through state-owned banks, sources in the Bangladesh said on Sunday, May 25.
However, nine banks received no remittances. These are Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB), Community Bank, Citizen Bank, ICB Islamic Bank, Padma Bank, Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan, and State Bank of India, according to the sources.
