Two local leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have been temporarily suspended from their party positions in Belkuchi of Sirajganj following allegations of threatening and assaulting voters. The decision was taken by the district BNP after receiving complaints against them.

The suspended leaders are Mostafizur Rahman Mondol, former General Secretary of Ward No. 4 BNP of Belkuchi Municipality, and his son Shihab Mondol, Organizational Secretary of the Belkuchi municipal unit of the Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal.

According to local sources, the two leaders were accused of intimidating and physically assaulting several voters in recent days. Following the submission of a written complaint to the district BNP, the party reviewed the matter and decided to suspend them from their respective posts.

The suspension was confirmed through two separate letters signed by Tanvir Mahmud Palash, Office Secretary of the district BNP, on Sunday night (15 February). The letters instructed the accused leaders to refrain from all organizational activities until the investigation into the allegations is completed.

District BNP leaders stated that the action was taken to maintain party discipline and protect the party’s image. Further organizational measures will be taken in accordance with party rules if the allegations are proven true.

The incident has sparked discussion and debate in the local political arena, though no immediate statement has been received from the accused individuals.
