A father and his two and half-year-old child were killed in a collision involving a bus and truck at Pirganjupazila in Rangpur district on Saturday.
The accident occurred around 11.30am on the Rangpur-Dhaka Highway at Bishmail area of the upazila. At least 10 bus passengers were injured at that time.
The deceased Faruque Hossain, 36, and his son Ishrat, were residents of Kamalsindhur area in Lalmonirhat’sHatibandhaupazila.
The injured were first taken to PirganjUpazila Health Complex where the physicians referred three of them to Rangpur Medical College Hospital due to their critical condition.
Quoting locals, Bardarga Highway Police outpost in-charge Solaiman Sheikh said the tragic incident happened when a Dhaka-bound passengers bus collided head-on with a Rangpur-bound truck. Two bus passengers died on the spot and ten others sustained injuries.
Procedures are underway to file a case in this regard, added the police official.
