M. Atiqul Islam Bulbul from Tarash
Two kingfishers, locally known as Maasranga, which were caught in the net of a pond owner and got wounded seriously, were finally released to the open sky on Monday last with the hands of Nusrat Zahan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) in Tarash of Sirajganj district making notable emotion and love to the birds.
At that time, Sharif Khandakar, Director of ‘Tarash Village Vision’, also a volunteer organization, local volunteer Masum Billah, Jamila Khatun, Masud Milon, Nazmul Hasan Mehedi, Mim Khatun and Rana among others were also present there.
During the release of two birds, the UNO Nusrat Zahan said, “Birds help to protect the nature and biodiversity. If we perish the birds, our environment will be destroyed gradually. So, we should protect our nature and biodiversity by ensuring safety of birds.”
She further said, “I am very impressed by watching the love of local people as well as volunteers of Tarash Village Vision to the birds. Due to lending their helping hands and timely treatment, the wounded two birds have revived again that praises to all.”
It is to be mentioned that, the two kingfishers were caught in the net of a pond owner at Matir Moszid (earthen mosque) area in Tarash municipality of Sirajganj district on June 24.
Noticing the matter, a minor boy named Abu Toha informed the matter to Sharif Khandakar, Director of local volunteer organization ‘Tarash Village Vision’. Later, a team of volunteers led by Masum Billah reached to the spot and rescued the wounded birds in critical condition.
The birds were given treatment with the prescription of a local veterinarian.
Jamila Khatun, a student of Tarash Degree College took the birds to her house for taking care of them. Within a short time, the birds get recovery with the love and a lot nursing provided by Jamila.
On Monday, the birds were released to the open sky with complete cure condition in presence of local civil society members.
