Naogaon Correspondent:

Five people were killed when a dump truck ran over a van in Mohadevpur upazila of Naogaon early Saturday.

The accident occurred at around 4:30am in the Pathkathi area of the upazila.

Dr Imrul Kayes, Residential Medical Officer of Mohadevpur Upazila Health Complex, confirmed the deaths.

The deceased were identified as Sanchu Urao, 48, son of Mangra Urao of Nurpur village under Enayetpur Union; Bipul Pahan, 22, son of Jutuya Pahan; Biren, 50, son of Khoka Pahan; Ujjal Pahan, 24, son of the late Naren Pahan; and Biplob, 22, son of Anil Pahan.

Abul Kasem, acting station officer of Mohadevpur Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the dump truck was travelling from Mohadevpur towards Patnitala when it lost control on the way and ran over a van.

Two passengers were killed on the spot, while three others were rescued in critical condition and rushed to the Mohadevpur Upazila Health Complex, he added.

Dr Imrul Kayes said, “The injured were brought to the hospital around 5am. A total of five people died in the incident.”
