The overall flood situation in different low-lying areas of northeastern region of the country may improve in 24 hours commencing 9:00am on Sunday, according to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).

The Brahmaputra, Jamuna rivers are in falling trend which may continue in next 72 hours.

The Ganges river is in rising trend which may continue in the next 72 hours, while the Padma river is in steady state which may continue in next 24 hours, a FFWC bulletin said.

The major rivers in the northeastern region of the country are in falling trend overall, which may continue in next 48 hours.

In the next 48 hours, flood situation at low-lying areas adjacent to Brahmaputra-Jamunariver of Kurigram, Jamalpur, Gaibandha, Bogra, Tangail and Sirajganj districts may improve.

In the next 24 hours, the Teesta, Dharla & Dudhkumar rivers in the northern region of the country may remain steady and flood situation at some low-lying areas adjacent to Dudhkumar river of Kurigram district may remain steady.

The water level of rivers in the northern and northwestern regions may fall except the Mohananda.

The flood situation of low-lying areas of Sirajganj district along the Atrai river may improve slowly, it added.
