Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the chief adviser, said the prices of essential food items are at a tolerable level compared to last Ramadan.

The government will try its best to keep the prices tolerable throughout the month of Ramadan, he added.

He said these at a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital on Saturday (March 1), according to local media reports.

Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder was also present at the press briefing.
