Nahid Islam, the convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has cautioned that that if an election is forcibly imposed just to gain power, it will not be accepted.

Speaking on Wednesday (March 26) after paying tribute at the National Martyrs’ Memorial on Independence Day, he claimed that while elections are being pushed forward, a parallel conspiracy is underway to rehabilitate fascist forces within the political landscape.

Nahid further remarked that the mass uprising of 2024 has reignited the spirit of the Liberation War.

He also accused the government of attempting to take the country back to its old arrangements under the guise of constitutional adherence.

Earlier, NCP leaders paid tribute to the martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the National Martyrs’ Memorial.
