Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad, a newly formed student organisation led by the key leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, officially began its journey on Wednesday.
A group of forefront leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (SAD) announced the name of the new student organisation during a press conference held at the historic Madhur Canteen on the Dhaka University campus this afternoon.
Abu Baker Majumdar, one of the key coordinators of the SAD, has been made convener of the newly introduced student organisation.
Jahid Ahsan has been made member secretary, Tahmid Al Mudasir chief organiser and Ashrefa Khatun has also been made spokesperson of the student body.
Meanwhile, a number of students from different private universities staged a demonstration in front of the Madhur Canteen, protesting the announcement, claiming that they are being deprived of their due recognition.
The DU syndicate announced the name of the new organisation where the students of private universities have been made victims of discrimination, said a group of protesters equivocally.
The SAD coordinators made the announcement a day after Nahid Islam, an adviser to the interim government, resigned from his post to form a new political party ahead of the next general election, likely to be held in early 2026.
