A female garment worker was killed, and another one injured in a road accident in the capital’s Banani early on Monday (March 10).
In an immediate response, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has temporarily suspended the registration of the vehicle that was involved in the accident and summoned its owner.
BRTA on Sunday issued a letter in this regard, signed by its Dhaka Metro-2 Circle Deputy Director (Engineering) Md Sanaul Haque.
The letter stated that the motor vehicle bearing number Dhaka Metro-Na-14-0762 met with an accident in Banani’s Chairmanbari area around 6am on 10 March, leaving a female garment worker killed and another one injured.
The owner of the vehicle must appear before the BRTA Dhaka Metro-2 Circle office within the next three working days, along with the vehicle’s registration certificate, tax token, fitness certificate, route permit and the licence of its driver, it said.
Otherwise, legal action will be taken against the owner and the vehicle’s registration will be cancelled, it warned.
