Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Jisanul Hauqe has been temporarily suspended from his post in connection to leaking private information regarding former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia.
This information has been disclosed through a notification published by the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to a police headquarters source, an investigation into how Asaduzzaman’s information went public on the internet found the involvement of Jisan and two other non-cadre police officers. Action has been taken against the two officers.
A notification signed by the Secretary of Public Security Department Jahangir Alam said that the allegations of indulging in anti-disciplinary activities against Jisanul Haque have been found prima facie true.
Therefore, Jisanul Haque has been suspended from service as per Section 39 (1) of Government Service Act 2018 and Rule 12 (1) of Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 2018, notification read.
The notification further states that while on temporary suspension, he will be entitled to allowances as per Bangladesh Service Rules. This order issued in public interest will be effective immediately.
Earlier, a news report was published in the media about Asaduzzaman Mia’s wealth, along with his electronic subscriber form (ESF) that the mobile phone subscribers fill up.
This form contains detailed information including a user’s name, address, national identity card number, and fingerprint.
After the publication of the form, the higher level of the police was asked to investigate the matter. Gazipur Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nazir Ahmed started the probe.
After reviewing the QR code in the form, and other steps, it was found that an officer of the rank of ADC of GMP exposed it.
According to the news report, Asaduzzaman Mia’s wife has a house and two flats in Dhaka, a house in the name of his son and a flat in the name of his daughter.
Besides, he has 67 decimals of land in Dhaka, Gazipur and Narayanganj in the name of his wife and children. His family members have another 166 decimals of land in these three districts.
