Bureau Chief, Khulna:

Global Action Days 2025 was celebrated at SOS Hermann Gmeiner School in Khulna city on Tuesday with the theme of “Ecosystem Restoration”.

Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP) of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) arranged the programme under the overall direction of Probha Aurora, the National Operator of Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in Bangladesh.

Deputy Director of the Department of Environment (DoE), Khulna Md. Asifur Rahman attended the event as chief guest and spoke on the occasion.

Architect Rezbina Khanam of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and Md. Anisur Rahman Waste Management Officer of KCC, Executive Director of SEIAM Advocate Masum Billah and Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust Project Officer Md. Imran Hossain were present as special guests. Prof. Dr. Tusar Kanti Roy of Department of URP in KUET was present as resource person. Principal of SOS School Khulna Indrajit Kumar Mondal presided over the function.

KUET URP student Sayma Binte Shafi presented a Power Point presentation on ‘Ecosystem Restoration’. Students of the URP Department of KUET Araf Hossain, Galib Ibne Mahbub, Soumik Halder, Toufiq Ahmed and Nabila Rahman among others were also present at the programme.

The day-long awareness program was consisted of poster competition and exhibition, instant speech by 5-SOS students, environmental discussions, and placard displays with environmental conservation slogans, waste management demonstration and tree plantation.

The guests shared their expert level experience and opinions on environmental conservation, climate change, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among the hundreds of students and other participants.
