Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday announced the squad for the inaugural ACC Women’s U-19 Asia Cup which will be held in Klang, Malaysia from 15-22 December.

The Bayuemas Cricket Oval will host all the matches of the six-team competition featuring  Bangladesh, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Bangladesh have been drawn in Group B along with Sri Lanka and Malaysia while Group A features India, Pakistan and Nepal.

Sumaiya Akter will lead the side while Afia Ashima Era will be her deputy.

The Bangladesh side will depart for Malaysia today with the aim of becoming the champions in the tournament.

“Our goal is to become champions,” head coach Sarwar Imran told the reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.

“I think our preparation has been excellent. We got all the facilities we wanted and practiced at BKSP for nearly one month and ten days. All kinds of resources were available there,” he added.

“Our bowling and fielding are excellent, and our batting is good too. However, our batting unit needs some adjustments. We have many talented players here. I’m confident we are the number one contenders for the championship,” he concluded.

Bangladesh will begin the campaign by taking on Sri Lanka on 16 December before facing Malaysia on 17 December.

WOMEN’S U-19 SQUAD:

Sumaiya Akter (Captain), Afia Ashima Era (Vice-Captain), Mst Eva, Fahomida Choya, Habiba Islam Pinky, Juairiya Ferdous, Fariya Akter, Farjana Easmin, Anisa Akter Soba, Sumaiya Akther Suborna, Nishita Akter Nishi, Arvin Tani, Jannatul Maoua, Sadia Akter and Maharun Nesa.
