Gold ornaments worth about Tk 22 lakh were stolen from Oishy Jewellery at Monirampur Baza’ar in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj district on Thursday morning.

According to the CCTV footage, a thief wearing mask entered into the jewellery shop breaking the lock at around 7:15am, when the locality was blanketed with the dense fog.

The thief took away cash and several types of ornaments estimated worth about Tk 22 lakh from the shop. Later, he managed to flee after hanging a new lock at its gate.

A team of police led by Aslam Ali, Officer in Charge of Shahzadpur thana visited the spot. A case was lodged with the respective police station in this connection.
